Family Start

Family Start works with pregnant women and new parents who are in workforce development programs. The goal of Family Start is to help women get the knowledge, resources and skills they need to have continued success in training, work and parenthood. Family Start provides individualized attention to each client in a specialized home visiting program. MOMobile Family Start Services is a partnership between Maternity Care Coalition and Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation (PWDC).

Eligibility Requirements
Any woman that is enrolled in a training program who becomes pregnant or has a child under 2 months of age may be considered eligible (some restrictions do apply).

Family Start Services

Family Start can help you:

  • Find childcare
  • Learn about child development
  • Meet other new parents at Parent Outreach Meetings
  • Get emergency supplies
  • Learn how to balance training and work responsibilities with motherhood

Benefits of Family Start
Each woman that is enrolled in Family Start works with an Advocate who is specially trained to provide assistance tailored to that client's needs. Family Start clients are engaged in activities that enhance their parenting skills and help them negotiate a path toward successful completion of their SPOC program.
